The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960
Section 1. Short title, extent and commencement.
(1) This Act may be called the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
(2) It extends to the whole of India 1***.
(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates 1 may be appointed for different States and for the different provisions contained in this Act.
