Section 1. Short title, extent and commencement.

(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966. (2) This Code extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra; but the provisions of Chapters III (except the provisions relating to encroachment on land), IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII (except section 242) and XVI (except sections 327, 329, 330, 1[330A], 335, 336 and 337) shall not apply to the City of Bombay. (3) It shall come into force in the whole of the State of Maharashtra on such date 2as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions.
