The Meghalaya Interpretation and General Clauses Act No. 7 of 1972
Section 4. Definitions in enactments to apply unless the context otherwise requires.
In every enactment, where a word is defined - (a) the definition shall apply unless the context of the enactment otherwise requires.
(b) grammatical variations of that word and cognate expressions shall have corresponding meanings.
