Section 18. Power to summon witnesses and cause production of documents.

(1) The licensing authority or the appellate authority shall for the purposes of this Act, have all the powers conferred on a Civil Court by the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, in respect of the following matters, namely:- (a) summoning and enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath or affirmation; (b) compelling the production of any documents; (c) impounding of any documents, accounts or other records produced for reasons to be recorded in writing; and (d) any other matter as may be prescribed. (2) The officer who impounds the documents, accounts or registers of the Pawn Broker shall grant a receipt of the things so impounded to the person concerned.
