Court-wide insights: benchmarks, High Court outcomes and defects
What the three insight pages show, how to read them, and the limits of statistics about a court.

The insight pages answer questions about the Supreme Court as a whole, never about one named judge or lawyer.
Benchmarks for similar matters
How long similar Supreme Court matters took and how they ended, by case type, origin court and subject. Use it to set expectations for a new matter, not to predict one.
High Court outcomes in the Supreme Court
How Supreme Court matters from each High Court and tribunal ended, by subject, with method notes.
Registry defects
The defects the Registry most often notes on fresh filings, and how long they take to cure. Useful for checking a filing before you submit it. For the process itself see diary number vs case number.
How to read any statistic here
- Open its method note on the methodology page: what is counted and what is left out.
- Look at how many matters it covers. Small groups mislead.
- Remember a statistic describes the past. It is not advice about your matter.
