The Sitting Roster: benches and judges
What the Sitting Roster shows about benches, sitting judges and tenure, and what it deliberately does not show.
By LawyerInsight team · Published 2026-10-28 · 1 min read
The Sitting Roster page is about who sits, not how they decide. It shows the benches and the judges currently sitting, plus tenure information such as retirement dates and the line of succession for the Supreme Court. It also lists former judges.
Why you might use it
- To see which judges are sitting now.
- To see when a judge retires, which matters for planning a long matter.
- To understand the make-up of benches.
What it does not do
LawyerInsight does not show outcome, relief or adjournment rates for a named judge or bench, and it does not predict how a judge will decide. Statistics about outcomes are court-wide, by bench size or by type of matter. Each one has a definition on the methodology page.
